On the occasion of 5th and 10th anniversary of its foundation SABH
awarded several important Slovak collectors for their longstanding work in the
field of collecting of beer souvenirs. They were granted the title „Collecting personality“. Every honored was given on
this occasion „Memorial letter“ and a glass with
the logo of SABH.
Name suggestions of collectors that should be awarded this prize were
chosen by clubs or by individual collectors. Of these
Executive board SABH chose the final list of awarded.
The list of personalities that gained the title at 5th anniversary in year 2003:
Alexander Baltazár – member of club of collectors in Rimavská
Sobota. For many years he owned one of the biggest
collections of Czech and Slovak labels, he owned also collection of a high
quality of other beer souvenirs and collecting strongly influenced his life. He
died after a long illness in year 2006.
Ján Bielik – he has been devoted to collecting since 1960. He
was an active member of Porter club in Martin, later Piveti
club in Žilina on which foundation he participated
(nowadays he is its honorary member). He belongs among important Slovak
collectors of labels; his collection contains more than 130 000 labels
from all over the world. He was always modest and honest collector.
Ing. Jan Fiedler – a foundation member of Danubius club in Bratislava where he worked
for many years as its chairman. He also helped with foundation of SABH, where
he worked on the post of secretary and was active in publishing as well. He has
been devoted to collecting since 1958 and belongs to the oldest and most
experienced collectors.
Rudolf Masár – as a collector of beer labels for many years he
attended almost all exchanges of collectors in Slovakia
and Czech.
He managed to build up a rich collection of beer labels from all over the
world. However because of the health problems and high age he quit his
collecting activities.
Štefan Mistrík – is a member of club of collectors Bystričan in Banská Bystrica and in the past he owned the biggest collection of
beer labels from all over the world in Slovakia. Later he started to
collect only Slovak and Czech labels where he belongs to Slovak collecting top.
He is among the most experienced Slovak collectors.
Zdenek Měrka – he has been interested in collecting for more than
30 years and thanks to him several active clubs of collectors in Prešov were founded. He was also organizer of first
exchange meetings of collectors in Veľký Šariš and he is also a frequent visitor of other collecting
meetings.
Ondrej Orlovský – owns the biggest collection of beer labels from all
over the world in Slovakia
in number more than 200 000 pieces and in this sense is the best known
Slovak collector. He often travels to exchange meetings and excursions also to
foreign countries and he has collecting contacts all over the world.
The list of personalities that gained the title at 10th anniversary of SABH foundation in year
2008:
Juraj Bednarčík – is a member of Cassovia
club in Košice. He is a universal collector owning
several collections of a high quality. He travels a lot and represents Slovak
collecting movement in foreign countries. He actively participates on the
functioning of SABH and on other activities connected with beer.
Andrej Gelačák – a longstanding member of Porter club in Martin
where despite of his high age he belongs to the most active members. He
regularly attends all club actions and he is an example for many other members
of the club. In his collections he concentrates on beer labels, glasses and
coasters.
Slavomír Nedelka (in memoriam) – he was a member of a club in Nitra where he actively
participated on its functioning. During his collecting career he owned one of
the biggest collections of beer cans in Slovakia. He was very popular
thanks to his friendliness, true – heartedness and modesty. He died after a
serious illness in 2008.
Jozef Pleva – is a member of Bystričan
club in Banská Bystrica. In
the past he belonged to the best and the best – known Slovak collectors of beer
labels, nowadays he concentrates only on Slovak and Czech labels. In regard of
his health problems he does not attend exchanges of collectors anymore but is
always faithful to collecting.
Ing. Ján Pokrievka – is a foundation member of Porter club in Martin and
of Slovak association of brewing history, where he functioned as the president
for 10 years. Besides he has built up wide collection of beer souvenirs and is
active in publishing and writing for magazine Beer hobby.
Ing. Július Slovenčák – is a chairman of Kaltenecker
club in Rimavská Sobota. By
his collections of a high quality he became well – known to all members of
collecting movement. His longstanding official act was also awarded.
JUDr. Branislav Sodoma –
one of the first members of Danubius club in Bratislava where he
functioned as a secretary for 10 years and later as a chairman of auditing
commission. As a collector he was interested mainly in labels, but he collects
also other beer souvenirs.
Jan Tanáč – a longstanding member of Danubius
club in Bratislava.
He has been interested in collecting for many years also with his wife and
except owning labels they have interesting collections of various beer
souvenirs. Among collectors he is known as an honest and modest collector that
does not mind to help others.
